MUSIC
Well... if you expected to read lots of stuff about me playing instruments,
I must disappoint you. OK, they taught us to play the recorder at school,
but, honestly, I would not call my corresponding efforts music. It was rather,
say, acoustic pollution. But, still, I like listening to music.
My main interest lies in electronic off-mainstream music. (Basically
everything from
Skinny Puppy
to
Klaus Schulze
).
Unfortunately, corresponding radio programmes are hard to find.
Since the german broadcasting station FFN suddenly terminated
Ecki Stieg's "Grenzwellen" (the best programme I have ever listened to), I
have not found any suitable replacement. Right now, therefore, all I can
provide on this page are a number of usefull links. I'd be grateful for
any information on avant-garde music programmes. If you know anything,
mail to

.
- Grenzwellen:
A 3 h/week programme, that brought (almost) all kinds of non-mainstream
music (EBM, gothic, ambient,...). Unfortunately terminated just
over one year ago. Ecki Stieg has continued his service on the
internet, but moving the sight several months ago, it
has been "under construction" ever since, and I haven't got a clue,
when it will be available again.
- Evosonic:
A reasonably new station. If anything, I know, comes close to the
"Grenzwellen", it's Evosonic. It is broadcast via Astra and brings
lots of electronic music.
-
Mike's Radio World: An excellent guide to radio stations
(all over the world) broadcasting in Real Audio.
- Delerium:
Possibly my favourite project of all times. Delerium used to
create ingenious, slightly sinister soundscapes including
ambient, industrial and technoelements. Over the past years they
have produced much more accessible songlike pieces with plenty of
ethnic influence. I give their older music the edge, but they're
still a great band.
