H ολική έκλειψη Ηλίου από το Καστελλόριζο

 

Η Hellas Sat, σε συνεργασία με το Αριστοτέλειο Πανεπιστήμιο Θεσσαλονίκης και τον παροχέα δορυφορικού εξοπλισμού ENGs, θα μεταδώσει τηλεοπτικά την ολική έκλειψη ηλίου που θα γίνει την Τετάρτη 29 Μαρτίου, 12:30 – 15:30 ώρα Ελλάδος (09:30 – 12:30 gmt).

Η τηλεοπτική αναμετάδοση θα γίνει από το Καστελλόριζο, τη μοναδική περιοχή της Ευρώπης που βρίσκεται στη «ζώνη ολικότητας» όπου η Σελήνη, θα μπει ακριβώς ανάμεσα στον Ήλιο και τη Γη, καλύπτοντάς τον 100%. Η κορύφωση του φαινομένου θα διαρκέσει μόνο τρία λεπτά (περίπου 13:53:30-13:56:30 ώρα Ελλάδος). Κατά τη διάρκεια των τριών αυτών λεπτών θα σουρουπώσει και θα φανούν τα λαμπρότερα αστέρια και οι πλανήτες Ερμής και Αφροδίτη, ενώ στη θέση του Ήλιου θα φαίνεται ένας μαύρος δίσκος (η Σελήνη), αναδεικνύοντας γύρω του το λαμπρό ηλιακό στέμμα. Η θερμοκρασία θα μειωθεί αισθητά, ένα αεράκι θα σηκωθεί και τα ζώα, νομίζοντας ότι έρχεται το τέλος της ημέρας θα ησυχάσουν και τα πουλιά θα κουρνιάσουν. Σημειώνεται ότι η επόμενη ολική έκλειψη ηλίου, ορατή από την Ελλάδα, θα συμβεί το έτος 2088!

Στο Καστελλόριζο βρίσκεται ήδη μια μεγάλη επιστημονική ομάδα από το Williams College, MA, USA και το Αριστοτέλειο Πανεπιστήμιο Θεσσαλονίκης, προετοιμάζοντας μια σειρά πειραμάτων τα  οποία θα διεξαχθούν κατά τη διάρκεια της εκλείψεως.

Για την λήψη της εικόνας θα χρησιμοποιηθεί ειδικός εξοπλισμός και φίλτρα που θα αναδεικνύουν τα φαινόμενα της κατώτερης ατμόσφαιρας του ήλιου (της «χρωμόσφαιρας»). Τα φαινόμενα αυτά δεν είναι ορατά «δια γυμνού οφθαλμού» ή με απλές τηλεοπτικές κάμερες. Το δορυφορικό σήμα θα διατεθεί με ελεύθερη λήψη για κάθε ενδιαφερόμενο εκπαιδευτικό και ερευνητικό ίδρυμα, όπως επίσης και για κάθε μη κερδοσκοπικό οργανισμό ή/και ιδιώτη που διαθέτει δορυφορικό κάτοπτρο και αποκωδικοποιητή, σύμφωνα με τα παρακάτω χαρακτηριστικά:

Hellas Sat, in cooperation with the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and the uplink provider ENGs, will transmit the total solar eclipse on Wednesday, March 29^th, 2006, 09:30 – 12:30 gmt. The satellite transmission will be broadcasted from the Greek island of Kastelorizo, the only territory of Europe located within the “zone of totality”, where the Moon will pass exactly between the Sun and the Earth, completely hiding the Sun for a few minutes. The phenomenon will last only for 3 minutes (approximately between 10:53:30 – 10:56:30 gmt). During these 3 minutes the sky will become darker (dusk will prevail in the sky) and the brightest stars and the planets Mercury and Venus will appear. High on the sky, a very dark disk (the Moon) will replace the sun, in the middle of a very bright solar corona. The temperature will drop significantly and a gentle breeze will start blowing, while the animals will settle somewhere quiet and the birds will perch in their nests, considering that the end of the day has come. It should be noted that the next total solar eclipse, visible from Greece, will take place on April 21st, 2088!

Already, at Kastellorizo, a large scientific expedition from Williams College, MA, USA and the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece is preparing several experiments to be undertaken during the eclipse. The solar image before and after totality will be captured with special equipment and filters, capable of observing events on the Sun’s lower atmosphere (its chromosphere). These events are not visible to the naked eye or with simple cameras. The Hellas Sat satellite TV broadcasting will be free to receive by any educational or research institution, non Commercial Corporation or interested individuals, according to the following satellite receive parameters:
