The Laboratory Astronomy meets AIESEC at the Observatory

The Laboratory of Astronomy participating in the celebrations for the 80th aniversary of the Department of Physics of the University of Thessaloniki collaborates with the International Conference  "Global Youth 2008", which is organized by the  AIESEC Office of the University of Thessaloniki, within the framework of the Student's Week of the University,

invites you
in a public event, which will take place on  Thursday 15/05/2008. 

            Details of the event:

21:00–22:00: Public talk by J.H. Seiradakis, Professor of the Section of Astrophysics, Astronomy and Mechanics of the Department of Physics of the University of Thessaloniki:

"Communicating with intelligent life in other planets"
(The talk will be given at the lecture room "Vassilis Xanthopoulos" at the Observatory of the University of Thessaloniki)

22:00-: A tour of the night sky of Thessaloniki 

            During the tour (if the weather is clear) a series of observations of the Moon, planets and other astronomical objects, e.g. galaxies, stellar clusters, etc, can be marvelled through the 20-cm refractor of the Observatory. In addition, there will be the oportunity for discusions with the members of the Laboratory about the recent developments in Astronomy, Astrophysics and Space Science.
