Computing Experience

I have a working experience in the use of Computers and Computer Programming (mainly in scientific applications such as Numerical Analysis, Differential Equations, Graphics, e.t.c.). More specifically:

• Graphics: Grapher, Gnuplot, Origin, IDL.

There has been made extensive use of the graphics packages Grapher and Gnuplot in plotting and fitting of numerical functions. Also I am very familiar with the Origin packet and I have programmed in IDL.
• Operating Systems: MS-DOS, UNIX, LINUX, as well X-Windows and Windows NT.

I have a lot of working experience on the following operating systems: HP-UNIX 9000, MS-DOS, Redhat LINUX, Windows 95/98/NT. I have also participated in a seminar, organized by the Department of Computer Science of the University of Thessaloniki, on ``Administration of Windows NT" operated systems.
• Networks: TCP-IP, LAN Manager.

I have a working experience on all the above mentioned types of network protocols. Also, on a daily basis I use extensively the Internet and E-mail resources.
• Programming, Calculus: FORTRAN, BASIC, C++, MATHEMATICA,

MAPLE.
All of the scientific programs that I have developed have been written in FORTRAN. I have programmed in BASIC and C++ in the past, mainly for under-graduate courses as well as personal applications.
Also, it has been done extensive use of the Scientific calculation packages MATHEMATICA and MAPLE, in the evaluation of integrals, plotting of functions, solving partial differential equations, e.t.c.
• Word Processors: L^ATEX, Word6.0, Emacs.

I am very familiar with the use the specialized word-processing packages L^ATEXand Word. I have also made use of other packages of Microsoft Office such as Powerpoint and Excel, in oral presentations.
• Web programming Languages: HTML language.

I am very familiar with the use of the HTML language and have constructed web pages for the Astronomy Laboratory in Thessaloniki, as well as for personal use. /B>
