Simulations of MHD Turbulence Dr.
Bernard Knaepen, Université Libre de Bruxelles Abstract: With the increase of computer resources over the years, numerical simulation has become a convenient tool in the study of hydrodynamic and magnetohydrodynamic turbulent flows. However, the complexity of turbulence is such that approximate methods have to be developed in order to deal with the flows encountered in real-world applications. One of these methods is called 'Large-Eddy Simulations' (LES) and will be discussed during this talk. After reviewing the difficulties related to the numerical simulation of turbulence, an overview of LES will be given and finally, personal contributions will be outlined. At the "Vassilis Xanthopoulos" Lecture Room (Observatory of Astronomy). |
